Great British Bake Off bets halted by Ladbrokes
Ladbrokes has stopped banking on BBC show the Great British Bake Off after a flurry of wagers triggered fears the winner's name might have been leaked.

"A run of bets" was placed for one candidate, at stores in the Ipswich area, the bookmaker stated.
It is not understood which baker prompted the flurry or whether any entrants have connections with the Suffolk town.

It is the sixth series of the program, which challenges 12 hopefuls to impress judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.

Weekly the amateur bakers are expected to take on a baking difficulty, with minimal guidelines, and provide a "signature dish".
'Soggy bottom'
The bookie stated a flurry of bets came in for among the 12 contestants whose odds began at 12/1 and were decreased to 6/1, 3/1 and after that evens.

"We provided prices on Monday and, practically before the ink was dry, an unusual number of punters remained in a rush to back just one candidate," David Williams of Ladbrokes said.
"On Tuesday and Wednesday it was more of the exact same one-way traffic. That sufficed to set our alarm bells calling and, as a preventative measure, we suspended our wagering.

"Hopefully, we'll go back up with revised odds sooner rather than later on, but we didn't wish to get caught with our pants pulled down and a soggy bottom, so we've chosen to relax up until we are reassured that Bake Off hasn't gone off already.

Several of the bets placed were the maximum the bookmaker would consider wagers made on the program's outcome, and 90% were put on one participant.

The very first entrant to be knocked out of the competitors on Wednesday night was Stuart Henshall from Surrey.
The 11 remaining candidates are from Berkshire, Lancashire, Cambridgeshire, London, West Yorkshire, Manchester, Essex, Swansea and two from Perthshire.
